Registration for Temporary Protected Status under the designation of Cameroon begins today.
“Cameroonian nationals currently residing in the U.S. who cannot safely return due to the extreme violence perpetrated by government forces and armed separatists, and a rise in attacks led by Boko Haram, will be able to remain and work in the United States until conditions in their home country improve.” -Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas
Cameroonians that would like to stay in the United States under TPS must file an application by submitting form I-821 between June 7, 2022 and December 7, 2023. Applicants may also file form I-765 for Employment Authorization at the same time. Both applications may be filed on the USCIS website.
To be eligible, individuals must show that they have been continuously living in the United States since April 14, 2022 and have had continuous physical presence in the US since June 7, 2022. People arriving to the US after April 14, 2022 are not eligible for TPS under this designation.
