Important Updates to form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Resident or Adjust Status
Make sure you are now including your form I-693, Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record WITH your I-485. If you don't submit them together, USCIS may reject your I-485.
USCIS published a new edition of the I-485. Starting Feb. 10, 2025, USCIS will accept only the 10/24/24 edition of Form I-485 and will reject any older editions of Form I-485.
If applicants are exempt from the I-864 under section 213A of the INA, they will now be able to request the exemption direction on the I-485, rather than submitting an I-864W. The I-864W has been discontinued removed from the USCIS website.
Another update to the form includes a clarification of the questions about the public charge ground of inadmissibility. The questions now will require an applicant to identify their immigrant category so that USCIS can more easily determine whether or not they are exempt from this ground of inadmissibility.
More information about the changes can be found on the USCIS website. Questions? Please reach out! We are happy to help.
