What’s Happening With the New Parole In Place Program?
On September 4th, a judge extended the temporary block on the implementation of the Keeping Families Together policy that provides a path to citizenship for many undocumented immigrants. This “pause” of the program will last until at least September 23, 2024.
The pause started because 16 states sued to stop the program, claiming that it’s unconstitutional. The judge wants more time to review the program’s legality before making a decision.
Even though USCIS is not able to approve petitions at this time, people can still apply for parole without any penalty.
